STEUBENVILLE — Ohio actor Peter Lawson Jones will make an appearance in the Ohio Valley to watch a feature film in which he plays a major supporting role as part of the Ohio Goes to the Movies celebration.
The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is part of the America 250-Ohio signature statewide event that showcases Ohioans in front of and behind the camera. The movie is scheduled at the Brilliant Branch Library for 1 p.m. March 12, and is based on the book “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman.
“Unfortunately, because of licensing reasons, we’re not permitted to release the name of the movie title in print or broadcasting,” said public relations coordinator Jenn Cesta. “Movie goers who want to know the title can visit our website, call, or visit in person to any library branch.”
Jones is visiting several movie venues this year that are showing the popular movie as part of the Ohio Goes to the Movie project. He also served as master of ceremonies at the Ohio Goes to the Movies kickoff in Milan.
“I am honored to be traveling the state on behalf of Ohio Goes to the Movies,” he said. “I can’t wait to join my friends in Brilliant to talk about the film that will be screened there this month. I’m elated that we’re making this wonderful movie available for free at the Steubenville and Jefferson County Library.”
Jones was born in Cleveland and formerly served as a Shaker Heights city councilman, Cuyahoga County commissioner and state representative. Currently, he is a member of the Ohio Arts Council and plays the lead in “The Last Shop on Walnut,” a feature-length film shot in Ohio that will be released this spring.
“We’re beyond thrilled that Peter is joining us to watch the movie. Afterward, he’ll discuss its filmmaking and sign autographs,” said Cesta.
She adds that “being a part of the state’s celebration is exciting. The library has scheduled a movie for each of its branches and two outdoor community movies, one in June for Wednesdays in Wintersville and the other in September at the amphitheater of the Historic Fort Steuben.”
