If you’re not using Helen Mirren as your North Star for spring dressing, this is your sign to start doing just that. The style darling, who I turn to for dressing advice more often than not, sat front row at a recent London Fashion Week runway show, and while sure, this type of outing naturally prompts sartorial excellence, Mirren really served it up from top to bottom.

The Dame wore a spring-coded outfit that included the most darling floral midi skirt. But it wasn’t your average floral skirt—she wore an elevated, subtle print that proves florals for spring can actually be ground-breaking. She paired her midi with a dark-blue cardigan that featured exaggerated shoulder lapels with lace-y detailing, plus a cinched-waist that paired perfectly with her skirt. So chic! But the best part? Those Mary Jane heels that prove that the sweet shoe that evokes childhood nostalgia are set for even bigger things this spring (they were big in 2024, even bigger in 2025, which is why I predict even more in 2026). Mark my words.
Mirren’s pair had a chunky block heel that immediately ups the comfort level. Unlike a thin heel, a chunky base offers ample support on which to stand all day, and you don’t risk slipping into a subway grate (just me?). What’s more, hers were a black patent leather with a sweet, practical front strap; the shiny leather looks so elegant, while the Mary Jane strap ensures they stay comfortably put all day long. No wonder she wore them for the hustle and bustle of fashion week.
My prediction? Mary Janes are going to blow up in two months. So, check out the Mirren-inspired Mary Janes that are now at the top of my spring wishlist thanks to her latest outing.
These Madewell pumps have Mirren’s name written all over them. They have the elegant, shiny leather exterior with a stretchy strap (which I prefer), as well as a block heel and square-toe front that all up the comfort level of classic heels. I’m sold.
These are another top contender for being a close match to Mirren’s. The shiny patent leather looks so luxe, while the adjustable strap allows for a customized fit. And, TBH, for $38, you really can’t do wrong with this pair.
This one’s selling out fast—and for good reason. The smooth black leather gives them an edgier look without losing the inherent sweetness of the silhouette. Plus, it has a chunky, asymmetric heel and an adjustable strap. Pair these with frilly white socks while it’s still cold.
Check out some more lookalikes of Mirren’s no-brainer spring heels.
