Science Central’s new planetarium set to open later this month

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Science Central’s planetarium is set to open March 25, and Planetarium Manager Sarah Vise said it’s worth the wait.

“The planetarium offers a very immersive experience, and a really relaxed environment for learning,” she said.

A part of the experience is travelling to another planet. Vise and her team of interns programmed each show themselves.

“I just really want to give everyone the opportunity to see what’s out there, and with the environment, an educational theater like this, we’re absolutely able to do that,” she said.

With a degree in astronomy and physics, Vise said she’s always loved learning about the planets.

She originally wanted to do research, but now she gets to share her passions and knowledge with everyone else.”

Once the planetarium opens, it’ll become a part of Science Central’s “Disability Days.”

“We have special accommodations for anyone with developmental, intellectual, physical disabilities, and we can really expand learning about space to anyone that wants to learn,” Vise said.
