Agadir – Acting on behalf of Secretary General of Morocco’s Ministry of Justice, the ministry’s Director of Cooperation and Communication Rima Lablaili hosted in Rabat Vasiliki Giavi, Secretary General of Greece’s Ministry of Justice
The meeting is part of joint efforts to reinforce cooperation between Morocco and Greece, and to enhance institutional dialogue between the two ministries.
Giavi was accompanied by Sotirios Tsouvalas, a judge at the Court of Appeal, and Apostolos Brikos, a legal advisor. The meeting took place at the Justice Ministry’s central administration headquarters in Rabat, with the presence of several officials and staff members.
Sharing experiences in judicial reform
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the Moroccan and Greek experiences in various areas of the justice system, the ministry said in a statement.
Both sides presented ongoing reform initiatives in their respective countries, particularly in judicial administration and modernization, the development of judicial services, as well as issues related to criminal and civil matters.
The two sides also highlighted training and capacity-building for justice sector personnel.
Strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange
They discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, focusing on modernizing and digitalizing judicial administration, strengthening management capacities, and developing training programs for justice sector actors.
The two parties also exchanged insights on legislative developments and shared experiences in international commercial dispute resolution, particularly arbitration.
Negotiations were held to prepare a cooperation program between the Ministries of Justice of Morocco and Greece.
This program aims to establish a structured institutional framework for cooperation and to intensify coordination in areas of mutual interest. The agreement is expected to be signed later by the Moroccan Minister of Justice and his Greek counterpart.
Both sides also agreed to continue consultations to identify priority areas for collaboration, including organizing regular working meetings, exchange visits of delegations and experts, and launching training programs, study visits, and capacity-building initiatives for judicial stakeholders. These efforts aim to enhance the efficiency and performance of the judicial systems in both countries.
This meeting reflects the positive momentum in Morocco-Greece relations and their shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in the field of justice, keeping pace with legislative, institutional, and technological developments internationally.
