Glasgow City’s hopes of reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa Cup remain in the balance as Sporting Club came from behind to earn a draw at Petershill.
The SWPL leaders took a first-half lead in the first leg of their last-16 tie when Natalia Wrobel lashed a precise shot into the bottom corner from inside the box.
However, Telma Encarnacao’s superb volley from a corner kick pulled the Portuguese club level with 15 minutes to go.
In a competitive game, both sides had further chances to score.
Emily Whelan twice went close for City, while Lee Gibson was forced into a good save to deny Daniela Arques.
Sporting in particular grew in confidence after their equaliser but could not find a way through Glasgow CIty’s defence.
The return leg is next Wednesday in Lisbon, with the winners set to face Ajax or Hammarby of Sweden in the quarter-finals.
Hammarby defeated the Dutch side 3-1 in Amsterdam in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
