A host of great movies have been added to streaming in the past week, and we at Digital Spy have handily rounded up some of the highlights to keep an eye out for.
Among those worth adding to your watchlist are an “unforgettable” drama starring Jim Carrey, as well as a brand new actioner featuring Reacher‘s Alan Ritchson.

War Machine: Released on Netflix today, this sci-fi focuses on the “final stage of US Army Ranger selection” where “an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat”.
Alan Ritchson leads an impressive cast that also includes Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales and Keiynan Lonsdale.
War Machine has already been called “relentlessly thrilling” by World of Screens and a “sharp and muscular actioner” by The Au Review – so strap in.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: If clever, heartbreaking romance is more your thing, then you can do no better than this 2004 classic.
Aptly dubbed “unforgettable” by Slate, the movie stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet as couple Joel Barish and Clementine Kruczynski, who undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories, with the movie exploring themes around love, loss and memory.
Directed by Michel Gondry and written by Charlie Kaufman (who won the Original Screenplay Oscar for his work), the impressive cast also includes Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood and Tom Wilkinson.

Official Secrets: Based on a true story, this 2019 drama follows whistleblower Katherine Gun as she learns that the US is enlisting UK help in gathering compromising information on UN Security Council members to blackmail them into voting for the Iraq invasion.
Featuring an impressive cast that includes Keira Knightley, Matt Smith, Ralph Fiennes and Matthew Goode, Official Secrets sits at an impressive 82% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
InSession Film called it a “phenomenal film” that is “packed with amazing actors, giving equally amazing performances”.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: This 1981 classic introduced audiences to Indiana Jones for the first time, and is considered one of the best adventure movies ever made. As noted by Loud and Clear Reviews, the movie “deserves its spot as the jewel of action cinema” – and you’d be hard-pressed to argue with that.
Raiders of the Lost Ark sees Harrison Ford’s iconic archeologist attempt to stop the Nazis from gaining the Ark of the Covenant, which could make their army invincible.
It also features plenty of all-time great cinema moments courtesy of director Steven Spielberg, including that unforgettable face-melting denouement.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week
Rocketman: Taron Egerton takes on the role of music icon Elton John in this great movie, which took on a refreshing jukebox musical approach in a landscape of more standard music biopics.
The 2019 film, which was called “fantastically entertaining” by MovieFreak.com, follows the star’s life from childhood musical prodigy to international superstar, also documenting his struggles with his sexuality and substance abuse.
Rocketman also features Jamie Bell as longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as manager and lover John Reid, Bryce Dallas Howard as mother Sheila, and Stephen Graham as label boss Dick James.
