NASCAR’s ecosystem is filled with high-profile names, from famed drivers like Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Kyle Larson to noteworthy owners like Richard Childress, Roger Penske and Rick Hendrick.

In many ways, the latter influences the former. Childress helped facilitate Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s dominance in the 1980s and 1990s, while Logano and Larson have been aided by investment from their famous owners.

Childress, Penske and Hendrick are legendary figures as far as NASCAR fans are concerned. But they’re not quite headliners, certainly not when compared to the sport’s greatest-ever benefactor: Michael Jordan.

Jordan’s love of NASCAR is well-documented, with the basketball Hall of Famer offering his presence at races over the years. He’s invested more into the sport in recent years, purchasing a team of his own and pushing it up the Cup Series standings.
