Has there ever been a more chaotic 24 hours in the modern history of Nottingham Forest?
From discovering that Tottenham Hotspur had made a bid for Morgan Gibbs-White on Thursday, utilising a release clause that nobody knew about, within the hour it emerged Forest had revived their interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
The club then launched their new kit, which is very smart, but received mixed reviews purely because of the timing of the announcement, which also came amid the expected departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.
This was followed today by news that Forest also believed Tottenham should not have known about Gibbs-White’s release clause, as they threatened legal action over what they felt amounted to an illegal approach.
Just as that drama was unfolding, Forest announced the signing of Jair Cunha from Brazil’s Botafogo — a promising new addition who did not deserve to be overshadowed.
But it was, again, when UEFA, European football’s governing body, ruled that Crystal Palace would not play in the Europa League they had qualified for by winning last season’s FA Cup, but would instead be relegated to the third-tier Conference League. Meaning that, pending Palace’s appeal, Conference League-bound Forest could be promoted to the Europa League in their place.
What do you make of the last few days, Forest fans? How are you feeling?
