Corey Hart’s ‘Sunglasses at Night’ may have been released in 1984, but the sentiment felt perfectly current on Saturday evening in Paris, where Rotate and Chimi hosted a late-night gathering to celebrate their upcoming eyewear collaboration.
Taking over Le Cornichon in the city’s 11th arrondissement, the Scandinavian brands welcomed a fashion week crowd of friends, collaborators and night owls for an intimate party soundtracked by Wolfram Amadeus. Among those in attendance were Rotate’s own co-founders and creative directors Thora Valdimars and Jeanette Madsen themselves, alongside a cohort of models and cool kids guests including Emili Sindlev, Willy Cartier and Vera Gundlach, among many others circulating between the bar and dance floor.
The celebration marked the forthcoming launch of the Rotate x Chimi eyewear capsule, first seen on the Rotate spring/summer 2026 runway during Copenhagen Fashion Week. The limited-edition collection spans 11 styles and channels a distinctly glamorous mood, drawing on the confident silhouettes and tinted lenses of the 1970s while maintaining the clean lines associated with Scandinavian design. “Sunglasses are the easiest way to transform a look. They add confidence, glamour and a sense of character in a second,” say Rotate Valdimars and Madsen of the collaboration.
Building on Chimi’s existing eyewear codes, the capsule reinterprets familiar silhouettes through Rotate’s glamour-driven lens: graphic cat-eyes in deep tortoise and fir green, squared frames in black and soil brown, metal aviators with grey lenses and rimless square designs with gradient tints. Crafted from acetate and lightweight metal, each pair features full UVA and UVB protection and is designed to move seamlessly from day to night – or, as Saturday’s party proved, straight into the early hours.
The Rotate x Chimi collection launches globally on March 13 via the brands’ websites and selected retailers worldwide.
