Milan Fashion Week wrapped up earlier this week, closing out another display of personal and expressive denim style.
Jeans were a staple in fashion week wardrobes. Deconstructed jeans were slashed into stripes of tangled denim. Dirty tints were strong, seen on everything from baggy barrel-leg jeans to rugged bomber jackets. Baggy Carhartt jeans paired with leather moto jackets, while others went for Gucci’s low-rise flare jeans and bare midriffs.
Others chose more novel pieces like sky-printed denim jacket and jeans and jeans worn backwards.
These statement-making styles were countered by attendees with a more classic look. Leather accessories added polish to a dark wash bootcut jean and basic black tee. Jeans with a single knee slash paired with a simple sweatshirt. A denim car coat was balanced by clean blue jeans, and dark wash transformed Canadian tuxedos into elevated coordinates.
Other attendees played with contrasts. A pair of plaid-printed denim long shorts were styled with peep-toe boots and a serious trench. Cuffed blue jeans faded into the background next to colorful fleece jackets and knitwear. Slingback heels, straight fit jeans and a polo shirt turned out to be the perfect uniform for arriving to shows by bike.
