NEW CUMBERLAND — A celebration of musicians, artists, crafters and more will be making its return to the Ohio Valley following a six-year absence.
Music and Art at Oak Glen is set to make its return March 21, with performances on the stage of the Oak Glen High School Little Theatre and adjacent commons areas.
“For a number of years, the festival attracted large audiences from throughout the region, drawn not only to quality rosters of diverse professional touring acts, but to the wide array of skilled artists, crafters and vendors set up in the Commons Area,” noted organizer Matt Cashdollar. “The festival grew to be an annual three-day celebration of music, the arts, and our cultural heritage until it came to an abrupt end in March 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.”
This year, the festival is returning as a one-day event, with the Commons Area open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring an array of artists, crafters and vendors, along with entertainment, open mic opportunities and several food options.
The Little Theatre stage will feature national, regional and local performers from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Cashdollar explained that the festival is a collaborative event between the school and community.
“Students from throughout the Tri-State Area work and perform alongside adult professionals on the Little Theatre stage in the Commons Area and in the behind-the-scenes production of the festival,” he said.
Through the support of sponsors, there is no admission cost to attend Music and Art.
