This fantastic ABS Stratos Ruby gaming PC is now down $350 at Newegg, and reduced from $2,199.99 to $1,849.99. Now this is a seriously competitve price for what you’re getting. First up, you’ve got the brilliant RX 9070 XT 16GB, which boasts impressive 1440p/ 4K gaming performance. That’s paired with the Ryzen 7 9700X, a procesor with a high boost clock speed, large L3 cache, and hefty core count, but without the weighty price tag. And on top of that there’s 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD. For the price, we think it’s a great deal well worth checking out, especially if you’re looking for more affordable, but relatively comparible alternatives to an RTX 5070 Ti prebuild.

Key features of this ABS Stratos Ruby RX 9070 XT gaming PC

Ryzen 7 9700X processor

The Ryzen 7 9700X is an excellent processor to pair with the RX 9070 XT, especially if you want solid 1440p and 4K gaming performance, without the added price tag of some of the X3D models. It features an impressive 5.5GHz boost clock, a large 32MB L3 cache, and 8 cores and 16 threads. Its core and thread count may be fairly standard for a Ryzen 7 processor, but it’s still very good for multitasking, streaming, running background applications, and handling creative workflows, making the 7 9700X a pretty versatile choice, too. Where this processor stands out is its efficiency, which in our review we thought held it back somewhat; however, what it does mean is that the cooling required for this CPU doesn’t have to be an absolute powerhouse, which does help keep overall build costs a little lower than CPUs with higher TDPs. RX 9070 XT graphics card

As I’ve said a few times, well, more than a few, this is one of the very best graphics cards you can get for 1440p and 4K from a price to performance perspective. This card has 4,096 shader cores and 16GB of GDDR6 memory, alongside 64 next-gen ray tracing accelerators, and 128 AI accelerators, the latter of which powers the most recent FSR4 upscaling and other AI tasks. It also boasts imressive performance in popular applications like Premiere Pro and Blender, making it a great pick for creatives who don’t fancy shelling out for something like the RTX 5070 Ti. RAM and storage

This build actually opts for some very high-speed 6400MHz DDR5 RAM, and a lot of it, coming in at 32GB. This is going to help you run more demanding AAA games, especially titles that are open-world or simulators, in addition to assist with overall respojnsiveness when using creative applications. For instance, if you’re a video editor, 4K timeline scrubbing will feel significantly snappier. On the storage front, you’ve got 1TB, which I won’t light the beacons for, but will say that it’s fine for a small-to-medium sized gaming library, and helps to keep spending to what you need now, rather than what you ‘may’ need in the future.

Things to consider

As you’ve probably guessed, the big consideration here is whether or not to go for something like an RTX 5070 Ti instead. Overall, it’s the ‘better’ card, but in terms of raw-performance the RX 9070 XT gives it a good run for its money. Where it pulls away, and commands a more premium price-point, is with its newer and more advanced technology. You’ve got GDDR7 VRAM, which is much faster than GDDR6, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, which are around twice as fast as the previous generation, and 5th-gen tensor cores, which give the RTX 5070 Ti a huge boost to its AI capabilities. Personally, for bang-for-your-buck 1440p and 4K, the RX 9070 XT is a winner, but for more well-rounded, future-proof option, it’s worth exploring some RTX 5070 Ti options.
