MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The first batch of nearly 250 short and feature-length documentary and fiction films that will be shown at the 2026 Milwaukee Film Festival have been made public.
The group of 10 films includes 1926’s “The General” directed by and starring Buster Keaton, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.; the showing will include a performance by the Anvil Orchestra.
“Reaching our 18th year is an incredible milestone and a testament to the community that has supported the Milwaukee Film Festival since the beginning,” said Milwaukee Film Executive Director Susan Kerns. “The Festival has always been about more than just great movies—it’s about bringing together the community we love and celebrating what makes Milwaukee special.”
Other films in the first batch include Alysa Nahmias’s “Cookie Queens”, Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” which debuted to rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival, the Don Herzfeldt animated film “Paper Trail”, documentary “Misan Harriman: Shoot the People”, horror flick “Obsession”, “documentary Powwow People” directed by UWM alum Sky Hopinka, 1984’s documentary on a series of Talking Heads concerts “Stop Making Sense”, autobiographical documentary “TheyDream”, and “What Does That Nature Say to You”, the 33rd feature film by South Korea’s Hong Sang-Soo.
Advance ticket packages and passes are available now ahead of the festival itself, which runs April 16th through the 30th.
