Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), the National Research Council of Italy, has joined the early adopter programme for Web of Science Research Intelligence from Clarivate, an agentic AI-native platform developed in partnership with the global research community.

The platform provides institutions with a unified, evidence-based view of research activity by connecting trusted, publisher-neutral data across publications, patents, grants, policy documents, clinical trials and other research outputs.

Web of Science Research Intelligence applies responsible AI to surface insights that support strategic planning, research evaluation, funding discovery and communication of societal impact. Its transparent, multidimensional societal impact framework is aimed at helping institutions understand and demonstrate how research contributes to outcomes beyond traditional metrics.

Giovanni De Simone, Head of the Planning, Programming and Central Library Unit of the CNR, said: “The Web of Science Research Intelligence platform is going to be a strategic tool to evaluate and analyse, from a more comprehensive perspective, the impact of our research. In addition to enhancing visibility, its multidimensional architecture will support our decision-making processes, helping us gain a broader view of the work and the impact of our researchers.”

As an early adopter, CNR has early access to developing capabilities and will provide feedback that informs ongoing refinement of the platform. As part of the early adopter cohort, CNR joins a select community of global institutions who share learnings and explore new, evidence-based approaches to understanding and demonstrating research impact using Web of Science Research Intelligence.

Activities available through early access include:

  • Identification of funding opportunities aligned with institutional priorities
  • Discovery of expertise across disciplines, institutions and geographies
  • Analysis of research activity using a transparent societal impact framework
  • AI-guided recommendations that support evidence-informed decision-making
  • Consolidated reporting and analytics based on unified, trusted data

Emmanuel Thiveaud, Senior Vice President, Research & Analytics, Academia & Government at Clarivate, said: “Clarivate welcomes CNR as an early adopter of Web of Science Research Intelligence. Partnership with the research community is essential to building useful, trusted and responsible tools.

“By working closely with institutions like CNR, we ensure the platform delivers meaningful, actionable insights that deepen understanding of research fields, strengthen decision-making, and enhance the ability to demonstrate research impact.”
