In southern Greece’s historic wine region, a new concept winery design is drawing attention for blending science fiction ideas with ancient landscape traditions.
In early 2026, Athens-based 314 Architecture Studio revealed Metamorphosis, a circular winery concept planned among the vineyards of Nemea.
The design imagines a structure that appears almost hidden within the terrain, with a planted roof that visually merges with the surrounding grape fields. From a distance, the building looks less like a conventional facility and more like a natural geological formation rising from the earth.
The Metamorphosis concept centers on a circular structure that is partially embedded in the ground. The design allows the roof to function as an extension of the vineyard itself. Rows of vegetation spread across the building’s upper surface, visually linking it with the surrounding agricultural landscape.
Because of this integration, the winery appears almost invisible from afar. Rather than standing above the land like a traditional building, the structure feels as if it is growing out of the terrain.
