Police in western Greece have arrested a group of 43 migrants for illegal entry and residence in the country and a Greek man for allegedly facilitating them, officials said Thursday.

A police statement said the 38 men and five women were taken into custody late Wednesday in the village of Katochi, near the town of Agrinio. The migrants were found in two warehouses belonging to two Greeks, one of whom was arrested. Police are seeking the second man.

Police did not clarify what the migrants were doing there, and whether they were believed to have been heading to the west coast to board a boat for Italy as is often the case with people entering Greece illegally from Turkey.
