CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Curious young minds filled the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History for the Geek Gala Jr..
This year’s theme, “Backyard Science,” gave kids the chance to explore hands-on experiments and interactive demonstrations while learning about science in everyday life. The event also helps raise support for the museum’s educational programs and exhibits.
Organizers say events like this show kids that learning can be both fun and engaging.
“I think a lot of times you come out here thinking that you’re just playing and having fun, but you’re learning about engineering, you’re learning about STEM, you’re learning about the history of Corpus Christi,” said Amy Frye, director of strategic initiatives at the museum. “So we love getting the community excited and having fun and learning.”
Frye said the museum hopes events like Geek Gala Jr. encourage families to explore local activities while sparking curiosity in science and technology.
“We have so much fun out here and we want you to know that there’s fun things to do here in Corpus Christi, and especially at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History,” Frye said.
Families spent the evening experimenting, discovering and learning, all while supporting programs designed to inspire the next generation of scientists.
