A coworker once told me that when they think of J.Crew, my name immediately comes to mind, and if that’s not enough proof of my allegiance to the brand, I don’t know what is. I’ve been shopping at the mall fixture since middle school, and while my style certainly evolved over the course of 16 years, my love of high-quality clothes with a vintage sensibility has never diminished.
So, naturally I was thrilled to be invited to preview J.Crew’s spring collection at the Soho flagship in NYC. Though I own enough from the brand to have a good sense of what fits me, it’s still always preferable to try on pieces IRL. Unsurprisingly, it was a struggle to choose just a few faves from the gorgeous drop, which combines Western-inspired prints and silhouettes with crisp cotton poplin, classic denim, and candy-colored knitwear. But I ultimately ended up trying eight new arrivals, and I fell in love with five of them.
Below, I’m breaking down my spring standouts from J.Crew, tested and reviewed.

A lightweight cardigan is a spring essential, and the soft, paper-thin cotton of this J.Crew style is perfect for those crisp yet sunny days. The navy bandana print immediately caught my eye—it’s probably not something you already have in your closet, but it’s still versatile enough to wear with anything from white jeans or olive green cargo pants to a breezy sundress.
As a baggy jeans enthusiast, I’ve tried tons of different barrel jeans in my life, so you can trust me when I say that J.Crew’s version is well worth buying. Made from rigid, high-quality denim that’s guaranteed to last, these cool-girl jeans have that signature curved silhouette with a narrower fit. In other words, they’re more subtle and wearable than some cartoonishly baggy takes on the trend.

Few things feel as heavenly as J.Crew’s downy brushed cashmere—I’m not exaggerating when I say that the second I pulled this knit tee over my head, I never wanted to take it off. Not only is $138 a great value for luxe cashmere, but the elegant boatneck and pretty pastel pink shade are so rich-looking. (Not into pink? It’s also available in two neutral shades, a bright blue, and a nautical navy striped print.)
Confession: As soon as the temperature hits 65 degrees, it’s impossible for me to resist anything that comes in a white cotton poplin. It’s timeless, airy, and romantic, a.k.a. exactly what I want out of my warm weather wardrobe. I can already tell I’m going to get plenty of use out of this best-selling midi skirt, which has a comfy elastic waist and will look adorable with everything from a cardigan and ballet flats during the spring to a bikini top and flip-flops once summer rolls around.

This green utility jacket is admittedly a bit out of my comfort zone, but the bright, spring-y shade was beckoning me from across the store, and I’m so glad I tried it on. I had a vision of wearing it buttoned up as a dress with tall boots, so I sized up, but it already has a relaxed, oversized fit that exudes effortlessly cool vibes. Substantial yet breathable, it’s an ideal weight for the season. I didn’t take the plunge this time, but it’s in my online shopping cart for when I decide my wardrobe is in need of a show-stopping statement piece.
Since J.Crew’s latest spring drop is just that good, I have a lengthy wishlist of pieces I didn’t have the chance to try on. Keep scrolling to shop a few more styles I have my eye on.
