Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced that its operational portfolio in Greece will grow by three times in the next few years. Greece has shown a high demand for serviced apartments which also reflects in the increased interest from surface investors. Wyndham has 14 hotels and branded residences in the country and as part of the new agreement, the company is set to establish new developments in conjuncture with local real estate groups.
Expansion Through Strategic Partnerships
The expansion plan includes a significant agreement with DKG Development, which will bring 12 new hospitality projects to Greece. Most of these projects will focus on branded serviced apartments, with a smaller portion dedicated to new hotel properties. This strategic move reflects Wyndham’s increasing focus on the growing demand for more spacious and flexible accommodations that offer the benefits of both hotels and short-term rentals.
As part of this initiative, Wyndham is collaborating with Sokio Hotels & Resorts and Oikos Property Developments to introduce two new projects in Attica under Wyndham’s Trademark Collection. One project will involve the renovation of a property in Faliro, while the other will convert a listed building on Praxitelous Street in central Athens. Both developments will offer high-end accommodations with the signature Wyndham touch.
Wyndham’s portfolio expansion also includes Ramada Residences by Wyndham, Halkidiki, set to open in Q1 2026, and the TRYP by Wyndham Piraeus Port, developed in partnership with Zafido Holding Ltd, expected to launch in September 2026. These projects are set to enhance Wyndham’s presence in some of Greece’s most popular and up-and-coming destinations.
Branded Serviced Apartments: The Future of Travel Accommodation
According to Vassilis Themelidis, Wyndham’s Regional Director for Southern and Eastern Europe, the company is placing a strong emphasis on the serviced apartment segment as part of its growth strategy. He highlighted that serviced apartments are becoming increasingly popular among travelers who want more space and privacy while still benefiting from professional management and hotel-style amenities.
The rise of the serviced apartment concept reflects a broader shift in the hospitality industry, as more travelers seek accommodations that provide flexibility and comfort while still offering the services and benefits of a hotel. Serviced apartments combine the best aspects of traditional hotel rooms and private rental properties, making them an attractive option for both business and leisure travelers.
A Growing Demand for Luxury and Flexibility in Greece
Greece’s tourism sector has been experiencing rapid growth in recent years, driven by increased international visitor numbers and a growing interest in destinations like Athens, Thessaloniki, and the islands. As more travelers seek longer stays and more personalized experiences, branded residences and serviced apartments are becoming key components of Greece’s luxury accommodation offerings.
Wyndham’s expansion in Greece is part of a broader trend in the hospitality industry, as travelers increasingly seek comfortable, flexible spaces for longer stays. The introduction of serviced apartments and new hotels by Wyndham will cater to this growing demand, offering high-quality accommodations in some of Greece’s most popular and emerging destinations.
Wyndham’s Growing Footprint in the Mediterranean
Wyndham’s commitment to expanding in Greece is part of the brand’s larger growth strategy across the Mediterranean and Europe. Wyndham is already a major player in the region, with properties in countries like Spain, Italy, and France, and the company is actively looking to increase its footprint in key tourist destinations. With the growing interest in sustainable travel and the rise of eco-tourism, Wyndham is aligning its growth plans with the region’s broader tourism goals.
The new projects in Greece, including the Ramada Residences in Halkidiki and the TRYP by Wyndham in Piraeus Port, reflect Wyndham’s focus on both luxury and accessibility. These developments will make it easier for tourists to explore Greece while staying in top-tier accommodations that combine modern design with local flavor.
A Positive Outlook for Greek Tourism
In regard to Wyndham, the expansion of the company’s hotel portfolio across Greece is indicative of the much anticipated expected growth regarding the county’s tourism industry. As Greece’s government continues to improve infrastructure and foreign investments, Greece’s tourism industry will flourish as the county becomes more economically attractive, and more readily available to tourists across the globe.
Wyndham’s new hotels and residences are really the only thing set to economically shift the region by augmenting the hospitality and real estate industry, as well as creating job opportunities. This will also confirm Wyndham’s position in the market, as the increase in global tourism’s to Greece will raise demand with high-level standards for foreign accommodations.
