Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg passes Kobe Bryant on NBA record list

Cooper Flagg continues to show he belongs in the NBA as a rookie for the Dallas Mavericks.

His latest feat? Moving past Kobe Bryant with an impressive slice of league history.

Flagg has now put up more games of 20-plus points while still a teenager than Bryant did, according to Real Sports.

The latest came on Friday night in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Flagg finished with:

  • 25 points
  • 4 rebounds
  • 5 assists
  • 8-16 FG
  • 1-3 3FG
  • 8-8 FT

Flagg has now scored at least 20 points in 25 games.

For contract, he has scored fewer than 20 points in 30 games. So nearly half the time, he reaches that mark.

For the season, Flagg is actually averaging exactly 20.0 points per game following Friday night’s game. He’s also putting up 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest while adding 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.

His 3-point shooting (29.5%) is really the only spot on his line that leaves something to be desired in what otherwise has been a rookie season befitting the guy who was the surefire No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Mavs have to continue to figure out how to build around Flagg going forward, but right now, he’s doing his best to make it clear that he’s the face of their future.
