Brooke Shields Wore the Clear Shoe Trend

Fact: A cool, sometimes even weird, shoe can immediately make an outfit 10 times cooler. Look at Matthieu Blazy’s interesting new heel silhouette at Chanel, or the “freaky” shoe trend that took over last summer. Celebrities and It Girls opted for sandals with toe-rings, quirky jellies, and even see-through mesh flats that divided the internet. That said, you’ll probably have thoughts on the shoes Brooke Shields wore during Paris Fashion Week, and I think it’ll give another life to the trend ahead of spring and summer. 

Shields arrived at the Chloé Fall/Winter 2026 show wearing a very Chemena Kamali-Chloé look: She dressed in a khaki-green cape paired with a white top and drapey peach skirt, but my eye was on her shoes. Shields’ pointy, curved heels were completely see-through, adding an edge to her otherwise very boho outfit. IMO, they are so cool. Kamali has been showing the trend on the runway for a minute now (in mules and sandals), and it always adds an unexpected, eye-catching element to outfits.

You can practically get any shoe you want made in a jelly version now, and these Mary Janes are proof. Minimialists will appreciate that the clear shoe goes with everything, but if you prefer a pop of color, they come in green, pink, and blue, too.

Mesh ballet flats are such a pretty shoe for spring. These are under $20, so you won’t have to break the bank to experiment with the trend. I’d style these with baggy jeans and a pretty spring blouse.
