The models circled back down the runway in a flourish of saturated colors and sizzling metallics, confidently short shorts, long embellished gowns, and the sophisticated flounce of peplums and bustles. Harbison appeared for just one humble moment. He took a swift yet grateful bow, clasped his hands together, and gave a broad smile before disappearing backstage. His humility left an impression as indelible as his talent. As he had ended his video, “My hope is that every piece I create carries the same truth I was raised with: That beauty should be kind, that fashion can be a form of care, and that joy in itself is a kind of revolution.”
The runway show supported Mama’s House, a home for pregnant women in crisis, and preceded an afterparty at Wildest Restaurant + Bar. Sunday from noon to 2 p.m., Harbison hosts a pop-up shop, upstairs at The Gardens on El Paseo in the Fashion Week tent, offering one-on-one fittings and a chance to browse the looks up close. The pop-up is open to the public.
Let the joy continue.
