Stephen Curry #30 of the Golden State Warriors looks on during a break in the action in the fourth quarter of the game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on March 15, 2026 in New York City.
The New York Knicks survived Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. They beat the Golden State Warriors 110-107. A 21-point deficit disappeared. The Knicks rallied to avoid embarrassment.
Stephen Curry watched from the sidelines. The Warriors star hasn’t played since January 30. Right knee pain and inflammation have sidelined him for 17 straight games.
He was interviewed during the game, and one of his replies stood out.
Curry Opens Up During The Game
Curry sat courtside while the game unfolded. He was asked about playing at Madison Square Garden. His response captured the venue’s pull.
“Landing the plane looking at the New York skyline. The drive into Madison Square Garden. Everything about it there’s just a vibe of honor and history,” Curry said. “You’ve watched games in this building your whole life…It just brings something kind of special out of you.”
The quote showed genuine appreciation. MSG holds a unique place in basketball. Curry feels it even from the sideline. Players grow up watching games in this building. Walking onto the court triggers something different.
Curry made sure to acknowledge that.
Knicks Survive Shorthanded Warriors
Golden State arrived in New York missing most of its rotation. Eight players sat out. Jimmy Butler is done for the year with a torn ACL. Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis and De’Anthony Melton were rested. Seth Curry and Al Horford are nursing strains. Stephen Curry remained sidelined.
The Warriors started a lineup that resembled a G-League roster. It was Golden State’s 11th different starting five in 11 games. None of that mattered early. The Warriors came out aggressive. The undermanned squad led by double digits for most of the first half.
New York looked lifeless. The Knicks trailed by nine at halftime. They’d been down 21 earlier.
The second half brought urgency. The deficit shrank throughout the third, and New York grabbed the lead before the fourth quarter started.
Jalen Brunson finished with 30 points and nine assists. A pull-up jumper with 65 seconds left pushed the lead to three. OG Anunoby iced it at the line after Brandin Podziemski cut the margin to one, before missing a go ahead three.
The Knicks improved to 44-25 despite some worrisome stretches.

Brown Rips Team Despite Win
Mike Brown refused to name a defensive player of the game. He does it after every win. Sunday was different. The gesture sent a message.
“I was not happy with the way we started the game and played it most of the way,” Brown said.
Brown called out the early timeouts he had to use.
“A veteran team, that has experienced winning at a high level…I shouldn’t have to call two timeouts in the first 6 minutes of the ball game,” Brown said. “& we’re not talking X’s & O’s. This is a challenge to his players.”
Brown was asked about changing the starting lineup.
“It’s not too late to do anything and if I feel the need, I will,” Brown said. “I’m not thinking that right now.”

Final Word for the Knicks
Stephen Curry sat on the bench Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. He opened up about what the building means. The mystique remains real. Even a two-time MVP feels it.
The Knicks escaped with a win. They rallied from 21 down to beat a Warriors team missing eight players. Jalen Brunson scored 30. The final was 110-107.
Mike Brown wasn’t celebrating. He refused to name a defensive player of the game. The message was clear. The slow starts need to stop.
