Sporting Braga vs Ferencváros: UEFA Europa League stats & head-to-head

  • Sporting Braga have lost two of their three games against Hungarian opponents in Europe (including the first leg of this tie), but did win the only occasion in which they’ve hosted one: 2-0 v Györi ETO in the 1966-67 Cup Winners’ Cup.

  • Ferencváros’ only previous away game against a Portuguese opponent in European competition was in October 1994, losing by six goals to nil against FC Porto in the Cup Winners’ Cup (round of 16).

  • Including last week’s defeat, Sporting Braga have lost the first leg of a two-legged knockout stage tie in major European competition by 2+ goals on 13 occasions – they have only gone on to progress from one of the last 12 (won 3-2 on penalties v Sheriff Tiraspol in the 2021-22 UEFA Europa League play-off round, after a 2-2 aggregate draw).

  • Ferencváros have lost five of their last eight away games in the UEFA Europa League (W2 D1), including the last two in a row. Across these eight matches, the Hungarian side – who hold a two-goal advantage in this tie versus Braga – have conceded an average of 2.4 goals per match (19 in in total).

  • Sporting Braga attempted just eight shots in the first leg against Ferencváros, despite averaging 70.4% possession. They were the first side to have fewer than 10 shots when having 70% or more possession in a UEFA Europa League match since Malmö FF v 1. FC Union Berlin in October 2022 (7 and 71.9%).
