HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaiʻi designer is offering local models a chance to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.
Kona-based designer Jamiana Tam has opened applications for models to showcase her new Hilia Swimwear collection in September.
Applicants are asked to submit a full-body photo, a headshot, and a video of themselves walking.
The deadline to apply is Friday.
“As a Native Hawaiian brand, it’s important to me that this moment creates access for others,” Tam wrote.
“My goal is to bring local Hawaii models to New York Fashion Week and give people from our islands the chance to walk a global runway while staying rooted in who they are and where they come from,” she wrote.
Tam has also launched a GoFundMe to help cover travel expenses.
