Greece pledges support to Lebanon, discusses regional security

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed Greece’s support for the Lebanese government and institutions, as well as efforts for reforms, during a meeting with Lebanese Defense Minister Michel Menasha.

Mitsotakis also reiterated Greece’s readiness to continue supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces. Regional developments were discussed, with the prime minister extending an invitation to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to visit Greece.

Earlier, Menasha met with National Defense Minister Nikos Dendias. In a post on social media platform X, Dendias said, “We focused on regional security issues as well as Greece’s assistance in strengthening the Lebanese Armed Forces, which are the guarantors of the country’s security.” He added, “I emphasized that the protection of Christian populations in the wider Middle East region is an issue of utmost importance for Greece.”
