Exclusive WRRV Interview With BALTHVS

We made some new friends over here on WRRV and I’m excited for you to get to know them as well! Balthazar from BALTHVS shared everything relating to their band, some personal insight, upcoming tours and more!

What Do We Know About BALTHVS?

You can listen to this exclusive interview as I shared everything relating to BALTHVS! I asked Balthazar to share some insight on himself and other members of the band. He highlighted that BALTHVS consists of himself on guitar, Johanna on bass and Sanitago on drums.

Johanna has also stepped into being a mother as well. I was curious about how the name BALTHVS came to be and Balthazar explained the story behind it. He shared that before hopping into his successful music career, he worked in a museum as a tour guide. This museum highlighted Western artists and more. One of his favorite paintings included a sketch by Balthus. He was known for being a Polish and French modern artist during that time.

Balthazar liked the idea of creating the name BALTHVS which represents this artist and its something that everyone can pronounce!

BALTHVS has been making music together since 2020. I asked Balthazar who has influenced him within his life to step into the world of music. He shared that he was influenced by other musicians along with music from CDS. Balthazar included his gratitude towards Tube and other streaming platforms that gave him access to music for free. It also helped shape his love for psychedelic music even more and he hopes that listeners can hear that through BALTHVS.

What Can We Expect From BALTHVS When We Listen?

Balthazar and I continued to chat about how they would explain their music to someone who has not heard it before. He included that they can be described as a world psychedelic funk band which is pretty cool! They have groovy vibes with instrumentals but they also sing. All of this comes together and makes people want to dance!

It’s great to reflect on how they got started and also looking ahead at upcoming shows, projects and more.

They are blessed to be involved in the jam band scene which I think is right where they belong!

I love watching their performances and I always enjoy seeing their fun outfits! I was curious if anyone from BALTHVS has stylists or if they piece their wardrobe together perfectly on their own.

Balthazar shared that their band allows everyone to dress as they like.

He also said that the shows give him an excuse to dress up and it feels great. He loves all of the colors and he hopes that he can influence others to show who they are through their clothes too.

Their wardrobe is so fun, groovy and it matches their energy!

What Upcoming Projects And New Music Can We Expect From BALTHVS?

I was excited to hear about the upcoming projects and new music that BALTHVS has for all of us! Their new album Transmutations is coming out on March, 20, 2026, woohoo! This is going to be their first, live album and their fifth record.

It’s a great insight into how they sound as a live band which I love! They hope to have a new studio by the end of this year as well. In 2025, they were really busy on the road. In 2026, they have been focused on being home more, still busy but making more music and records for us to enjoy.

In addition to that, I wanted to learn about the festivals that they will be performing at this year. They will be at All Good Now 2026 in Columbia, MD, Sawtooth Valley Gathering 2026 in Stanley, ID and Zootown Music Festival in Missoula, MT this summer.

BALTHVS will also be on tour in High Sierra Music Festival 2026 in Grass Valley, CA and Release Athens Festival 2026 in Kallithea, Greece also this summer!

Since we were chatting about ours, I asked Balthazar if they have a favorite city or venue to visit. He shared that in Europe, it would be Amsterdam because it makes it feel as if he is home. He can do everything on a bike vs. a car!

He shared his love for the U.S and stated that it’s an amazing country. Balthazar suggests that anyone visit the Electric Forest Festival in Michigan. He said that it’s truly one of the most unique festivals on the earth!

He said that it’s in a natural setting, a big forest. Balthazar and I bonded over our love for the outdoors and being in nature.

I was curious how Balthazar finds balance with his busy schedule. I was curious if he was into meditating, doing yoga or simply being out in nature which he loves. He shared that working out is great for him as the group may sit a lot while traveling on tour. They are health orientated and also enjoy doing yoga, meditating and more!

It’s true, when we take care of ourselves, then we can show up for others.

What Do BALTHVS Love The Most About New York State?

I invited everyone from BALTHVS to the Hudson Valley since they are our new friends! They can hang out at the WRRV Studios in Poughkeepsie, NY. I was curious if he or the band has ever been to New York state before.

Balthazar shared an incredible story about his visit to our state! He has been to New York City before and spent time in Brooklyn and Manhattan. However, Balthazar got personal about his trip to the Hudson Valley!

He enjoyed escaping the hustle and bustle of New York City and went to Poughkeepsie, NY! He was there to see a beautiful art commune which is completely devoted to art which he loves. Balthazar gave love to Alex and Allyson Grey co founded the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors.

He shared his love for the Hudson Valley as he was welcomed into the Poughkeepsie area by art and nature and he’s excited to see more of our area. Let’s welcome Balthazar back to the Hudson Valley and invite everyone from BALTHVS to our community 🙂
