Having been to see the specialists, the Danish ‘keeper revealed just what he had done.
“I’m going to need two surgeries now to fix my shoulder,” he told CBS Golazo. “It’s a bit of a body blow.
“I’ve torn the bicep, torn the rotator cuff, dislocated the shoulder, torn the labrum – everything’s kind of gone.”
Schmeichel has not played for Celtic since their Scottish Premiership game against Hibernian in February, sitting out their last five matches as Viljami Sinisalo took his place in the starting line-up.

And it remains to be seen whether that 2-1 loss to Hibernian will be Schmeichel’s last match for Celtic.
“You don’t really know how to react to this. I could have potentially played my last ever football game,” he added.
“I’ve been a footballer since the day I was born. That kind of thought is devastating. It’s very, very hard to wrap my head around at the moment.
“My mind is like, ‘Okay, I’m going to give it absolutely everything I can to see if I can get back’.
“It would be probably one of the greatest feats of my career if I could get back from an injury like this. I’m going to fight, I’m going to try everything I can.”
Schmeichel has been with Celtic since 2024, having previously had spells at Anderlecht, Leeds United and most notably Leicester City.

It was with the latter that he won his biggest trophy, helping Leicester lift the Premier League title in 2015/16, and the FA Cup in 2020/21.
His career spans 20 years, having started his professional life as a Manchester City prospect.
