Olympique Lyonnais vs Celta Vigo: UEFA Europa League stats & head-to-head

  • Lyon have only lost two of their last 14 home matches against Spanish teams in major European competition (W7 D5), and have never lost when hosting them in a knockout stage match (W3 D3).

  • Celta Vigo are unbeaten across their three games against French sides in this season’s UEFA Europa League (wins v Nice and Lille, draw v Lyon). However, they have lost both away games they have played against French teams in Europe: 1-2 defeats to Marseille (March 1999) and Lens (March 2000), both in the UEFA Cup.

  • Lyon have won their last four home matches in the UEFA Europa League, and could win five consecutive home matches in major European competition for the first time since a seven-game streak between November 1998 and September 2000.

  • Celta Vigo are looking to reach just their fifth quarter-final in a major European competition (all in the UEFA Cup/Europa League), and first since the 2016-17 campaign under Eduardo Berizzo.

  • Along with scoring their equaliser, Endrick was directly involved in 11 of Lyon’s 20 shots in the first leg against Celta Vigo (7 shots, 4 chances created). The Brazilian (19y 234d) was the youngest Lyon player to score in a knockout stage game in major European competition since Houssem Aouar in February 2017 (18y 238d v AZ).
