Before Phish returns to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park this Labor Day for its annual three-day shakedown, Trey Anastasio is making a solo appearance in Vail.
The Phish frontman’s acoustic set on Wednesday, June 3, serves as an unofficial kick-off to the Mountains of Music lineup. The festival, which takes place at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, will help warm up Vail audiences ahead of the GoPro Mountain Games, which run June 4-7. Longtime Anastasio collaborator and keyboardist Jeff Tanski is also part of the festivities. Tickets for the prologue at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater go on sale Friday, March 20 at 10 a.m. The solo tour also stops at Red Rocks on Sunday, June 7 (and it’s not sold-out yet, either).
The music, presented by the Vail Valley Foundation, continues at the Amp throughout the weekend with evening concerts from Mountain Grass Unit and Surf Hat (Thursday, June 4), Wilderado with Michael Marcagi and Steph Strings (Friday, June 5), and Allman Betts Family Revival and Eric Krasno & Friends (Saturday, June 6). Tickets for the trio of shows are on sale now.
There are also over three-dozen free daytime shows across the event’s four days at the BFGoodrich Gear Town’s Turtlebox Music Stage and Golden Peak’s Bulleit Hangout Stage. For schedule of acts, set times and stage locations, visit GoPro Mountain Games website. The CoLab Creator Stage is welcoming several musical guests throughout the weekend, too. Those artists will be shared closer to the event, according to this week’s initial announcement.
“Music is woven into the DNA of the GoPro Mountain Games, turning the event into a true day-to-night celebration of athletes, art, music and mountain culture,” says Dave Dressman, GoPro Mountain Games event director and Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater vice president.
“When we put together the Mountains of Music lineup, we look for artists who embody a spirit of adventure and community,” he continues. “We want someone who has never been to the Mountain Games to see one of these shows and instantly understand what the event is about. This year’s lineup delivers just that, and it offers something for many different kinds of music fans.”
Registration for the 2026 GoPro Mountain Games is now open for athletic competitions for more than 35 events across eleven disciplines, with over $140,000 in cash prizes at stake. The event is completely free. Learn more and register at mountaingames.com.
