One of the oldest buildings on the Sheridan College campus will be renovated after all, thanks to the Wyoming Legislature.
Recently, the Legislature approved more than $15.19 million in the Capital Construction Bill, to help with renovations for the College’s Science Center, which has been around since the 1980’s.
Before the Budget Session started, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon left the renovation funding out of his budget recommendation, but it was Democrat Representative Trey Sherwood out of Albany County, who amended House Bill 111 and put the funding back in.
The College, through local funding, will provide the other $12.3 million for the project.
College President Dr. Walter Tribley says College faculty and administration provided input and ideas about the renovation, based on visiting other facilities.
”When a building is designed by the end users to that level, you have the best chance of creating a great learning and communications space for your students. Top down we usually miss the mark by a mile, but this time we had really great participation from those that are going to use the building.”
Dr. Tribley says the next step is to put the renovation project out to bid to sub-contractors.
