KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Hundreds of students from across the region are taking part in a science showdown at Kutztown University.
They’re competing in the Central Eastern Regional Science Olympiad.
Teams of middle and high school students from nine counties squared off.
There are 26 different events in a variety of sciences, like biology, earth science, and programming.
Organizers say the biggest challenge is putting all the skills together to solve complex problems.
“You gotta be very creative. It requires a large…. you’re drawing from a range of skill sets. Not only can you do the math, can you do the design, can you the study… but like it’s the execution. And there’s always little twists and unforeseen things that you have to account for,” Director Eric Laub explains.
The top ranked teams will move on to compete in the state tournament that is scheduled for April 25th.
