The Duke Blue Devils and star forward Cameron Boozer are in the middle of an NCAA Tournament run. They were able to knock off No. 16 Siena in the first round by a final score of 71-65, but it wasn’t a pretty win.
Boozer put up 22 points on 4-for-11 shooting, while knocking down 13 of his 14 free throw attempts in the win to go along with 13 rebounds and three assists.
While all eyes are on the tournament and Duke is a National Championship hopeful, the 2026 NBA Draft is coming up quickly as well. Boozer is widely expected to be a top-three pick.
Keeping that in mind, Boozer has spoken out with a clear message about his NBA Draft future.
Duke Star Cameron Boozer Sends Clear NBA Draft Message
In a world where some top-tier players target playing for specific teams, Boozer is simply focused on playing basketball. He doesn’t care which pick he gets drafted with. Boozer is focused on finding the right fit and having a long and successful NBA career.
“Whether I go one or I go 15th, it’s more about fit. I just want to have a long career. Where I start doesn’t really determine where I’m going to finish or end up,” Boozer said.
“So obviously I see what people say, I see whatever, but that’s not going to matter 10 years from now. It’s just about, for me, stacking days. Being the best version of me. And yeah, everything will work out fine.”
He makes a good point. Boozer will be able to create his own future as soon as he gets to the league.
Throughout the course of the 2025-26 college basketball season, Boozer has played in 35 games. He has averaged 22.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 56 percent from the floor and 40.2 percent from three-point range.
Which Teams Are Most Likely to Draft Cameron Boozer?
If the NBA season were to end today, the Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards, Brooklyn Nets, and Sacramento Kings would be the most likely fits.
Speaking of the Pacers, a report recently came out that Boozer might be at the top of their list.
Here is what NBA insider Jake Fischer had to say about Indiana’s opinion of Boozer.
“No one in the NBA that I’ve consulted projects any sort of dramatic draft night fall for either Peterson or Boozer,” Fischer wrote. “When it comes to Boozer, in fact, there is a sentiment among some rival teams that the Duke star would be Indiana’s preferred selection even if the Pacers were to come away with the No. 1 overall pick because of his potential fit alongside Pascal Siakam and newly acquired Ivica Zubac.”
Only time will tell where Boozer will begin his NBA career. However, he’s not worrying about that right now. It will be interesting to see if he can lead the Blue Devils on a deep March Madness run.
