If you’re looking for a revisit of The Hobbit trilogy, it’s readily available for you to check out on various streaming services. Peter Jackson’s follow-up films to his Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings trilogy weren’t nearly as successful when they first released. However, 14 years later, they’re certainly due for a rewatch.
The Hobbit chronicles the journey of Bilbo Baggins as he travels with Gandalf and a band of dwarves to help the latter reclaim their homeland from a fearsome dragon. It’s a classic fantasy story that still holds up, and the films do a decent job recounting it. Here’s where you can find every film in the trilogy if you’d like to give them another chance.
The Hobbit Movies Can Be Found On 10 Streaming Services (With A Catch)
Currently, the main home for The Hobbit films is HBO Max. All the theatrical editions of An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of the Five Armies can be streamed there with or without ads, depending on the tier you purchased. For fans of Peter Jackson’s Extended Editions, these versions of The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies can be found there as well.
The trilogy can also be found on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, The Roku Channel, and YouTube. However, the only way you are able to watch them without buying or renting them is to have an HBO Max extension tied to your account.
If you can’t afford to add HBO Max, each film is available to rent for a modest fee. They all cost at most $6 each on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Fandango at Home, Google Play Movies, and Apple TV to watch within 48 hours, making for a far more convenient and cheaper alternative. Plus, if you have Cable TV, An Unexpected Journey is available on TNT and TBS on their websites and apps, free of charge.
Nine Streaming Services Also Have All Of The Lord Of The Rings Movies
Similar to The Hobbit, the beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy has a dedicated home on HBO Max. Both the theatrical editions and the Extended Editions can be streamed there, making the hit streamer the ideal place to binge-watch this classic fantasy series.
If you have Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube TV, or Roku; you can add HBO Max to your account at an additional cost to stream them from there. Plus, all three films are available to rent or buy at more affordable prices on marketplace streamers like Fandango at Home, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Apple TV and Google Play Video.
There are plenty of places to stream The Hobbit and its successor series, The Lord of the Rings. However, if you want to watch it without dealing with extra fees, it’s absolutely best to stick to HBO Max. However, no matter what you choose, there’s no bad option to revisit Middle Earth and experience these films once again.
