Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James added another historic milestone to his résumé Saturday, surpassing Robert Parish for the most games played in NBA history.
The milestone came during the Lakers’ game against the Orlando Magic, the fourth contest of the team’s ongoing six-game road trip. James was in the starting lineup alongside Luka Dončić, Marcus Smart, Austin Reaves and Deandre Ayton as he officially moved past Parish on the league’s all-time games played list.
James appeared in his 1,612th career game, breaking Parish’s long-standing mark of 1,611 — a record that stood for nearly three decades.

“It’s not something I set out to do,” James said, via ESPN. “The one thing that I’ve always had in my mind is that you can’t be a leader if you’re not available to your teammates.”

Parish, who surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s previous mark in 1996, said James’ approach mirrors his own dedication to fitness and longevity.
“It’s a testament to not only my longevity, but LeBron’s longevity,” Parish added.
