Sacramento band LabRats teamed up with Sac Dance Lab on Saturday to present an original musical titled “Who is Jef Costello?” inspired by the classic film “Le Samourai” and reimagined through a contemporary hip-hop lens. The musical, accompanying their new album “Tiger in the Jungle,” weaves music together with dancing, cirque arts and storytelling to explore complex themes, including identity and internal conflict. “We’ve got visual art, dance, live music and vocals. It’s an interactive experience,” LabRats drummer Jacob Swedlow said. ” I want people to be immersed in this.”The matinee showing for all ages was on Saturday afternoon, followed later by a second showing of the musical for people 21-year-old and up.
