Harwood presents teen version of ‘Hadestown’ musical April 2-4 — Waterbury Roundabout

Senior A.J. Brooks leads an ensemble of almost 30 students through the up-above and down-below worlds where the story unfolds. Junior Nyx Gilson is the scenic designer; sophomore Zoe Legeros is the costumer;  junior Cali Neville and sophomore Franki Beto are stage managers for the production.

The show is once again directed by Scott Weigand, with music direction by Harwood music teacher Molly Desrochers. Choreography is by Mary Chudzik and Kenrick Fisher is the lighting designer.

Weigand points out that, although the storylines are rooted in the classics, their modern presentation in “Hadestown” proves the themes are timeless. “This show is not just a modern retelling of classic myths; its themes still resonate today. It’s not just a love story, but a story about the struggle between the haves and have-nots,” Weigand said. “It is a challenging show that these students have worked hard to present.I think everyone will be moved by their performance.”

Show details: “Hadestown: Teen Edition” on the Harwood Union High School stage, April 2-4 at 7:30 p.m.; also at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.

Tickets: $12 adults, and $8 students; available at the door, cash or check only.

“Hadestown: Teen Edition” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Corp.
