Willie Nelsons Outlaw Music Festival will return for an 11th year in summer 2026, it was announced Tuesday. But for some fans of these Americana extravaganzas, it may require a bit more traveling to join the fun. The tour will touch down in about a third the number of cities that last year’s outing did, with a dozen locales on the itinerary, after last year’s expansion to 35 stops.
None of the openers join Nelson & Family on all the dates, but Stephen Wilson Jr. is doing 11 out of the 12 shows, the Avett Brrothers are on the bill in nine 12 cities, Lukas Nelson is set for eight, Sheryl Crow is booked for six and Wilco will appear at three.
Other artists joining the festival for stops along the way include Margo Price, Sierra Hull, Robert Randolph, Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble, and Lily Meola. For Nelson’s traditional 4th of July Picnic in August, Billy Strings and Rodney Crowell will be featured one-time guests.
Unlike the previous two years, when Bob Dylan was a co-headliner on all the Outlaw Music Festival dates, he is not on the 2026 lineup at all. Dylan announced an expansion of his own summer tour plans on his website Monday.
The tour opens in Irving, Texas on July 3 and has just three dates — the ones with Wilco on board — in July, all in Nelson’s home state. It then resumes six weeks later, in mid-August, in Maryland Heights, Maryland, with an additional nine shows, staying in the Midwest and Northeast before wrapping up Aug. 30 in Saratoga Springs, NY. (Unlike other recent years, there are no shows scheduled at the Hollywood Bowl, or anything west of Texas.)
Tickets go on sale Friday at Outlawmusicfestival.com.
