Happy Hannaversary!
Miley Cyrus hit the red carpet in Los Angeles Monday night for the premiere of the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” in flashy pop-star style.
Cyrus honored her on-screen character in a custom bedazzled Hannah Montana T-shirt layered under a silver Rabanne chainmail dress from the brand’s spring 2024 collection.
The cap-sleeve baby tee featured a black-and-white image of her Disney alter ego covered in rhinestone stars, highlighted by the deep cowl neck of the metallic mesh that showed off a flash of her abs. Two thigh-high slits on the side of the dress showed off silver stiletto pumps.
Cyrus accessorized with diamond jewelry from New York brand Marli, piling on stacks of bracelets and rings in silver and gold, along with a multi-strand diamond chain necklace.
Stylist Bradley Kenneth put the look together, while hairstylist Bobby Eliot was behind her honey-blond, Hannah Montana-esque bangs. Even the blowout was on theme, with Eliot posting a behind-the-scenes look at a custom bedazzled “HM20” Shark blowdryer on Instagram Stories.
Makeup artist Janice Daoud used Maybelline, for which Cyrus is a brand ambassador, and manicurist Miho Okawara rounded out the glam team, giving the star a peachy-pink manicure.
On the red carpet, Cyrus addressed one of the biggest questions surrounding the special: whether she wore a wig to channel her famous alter ego.
“That was all my real hair,” she told reporters, confirming that her hair was dyed blond and styled with bangs for filming.
Still, she has nothing but love for the original. “The wig was a little bit itchy, but the wig was giving me my life, it was serving up a fantasy, and I’ll always love the wig,” she said.
For the afterparty, she swapped the chainmail for an Alexander McQueen skull-print halter top and boot-cut jeans, keeping the Y2K inspiration coming.
Cyrus was joined by fiancé Maxx Morando, mom Tish Cyrus and sister Brandi, along with original cast members Jason Earles, Moisés Arias, Cody Linley and others on the red carpet. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was absent from the premiere despite appearing in the special.
It’s not the first time Cyrus has worn her own merch for a milestone. For the show’s 15th anniversary in 2021, she sported a vintage “Undercover Pop Star” tee cut into a crop top with low-rise jeans and a “Hannah Montana” Louis Vuitton bag. Five years later, the T-shirt got a chainmail upgrade.
The special is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
