NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Convention Center Authority approved a motion on Tuesday to allow The Boring Company access to and use of an easement along the west side of the Music City Center property.
The Music City Center said the agreement is in relation to the underground transit system, the Music City Loop, which is being developed by The Boring Company.
“Based on the planned tunnel route, we anticipated this need, but we also wanted more information,” said MCC President and Chief Executive Officer Charles Starks, in a press release. “Getting our questions answered directly by The Boring Company helped us move forward with this agreement.”
Tunneling beneath private property, like the Music City Center, required written permission from the property owner in the form of an easement, officials with the Music City Center said in the release.
Additionally, the Music City Center said the proximity would allow the convention center to have a station along the route. But officials said a separate motion and agreement by the authority would be required before a station can be built.
“We look forward to having more discussions with them to determine if a tunnel station is the right fit for our facility,” said Starks.
The Music City Loop is a proposed tunnel network, exclusively for Tesla taxis, that would connect downtown Nashville to the Nashville International Airport. It was announced by Gov. Bill Lee and The Boring Company in July 2025 and its first leg expected to open by the end of 2026.
