Ja Morant is officially done for the season, the Memphis Grizzlies announced Tuesday.
The Grizzlies point guard, who has not played since Jan. 21, will not return to the team as he continues to experience discomfort in his left elbow after a sprained UCL. It has reportedly been recommended that he receive a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in the elbow to aid ligament healing.

The procedure will render Morant unable to play for the rest of 2025-26, but he is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2026-27 season.
The development leaves Morant with only 20 games played this season, his latest campaign to be marred by injuries. Since his last All-Star season in 2022-23, he has played in 79 games total across three seasons. He missed all but nine games in 2023-24 due to a suspension and shoulder injury and missed 32 games last season with an assortment of issues.
At 24-47 and 9.5 games out from the final West play-in spot, the Grizzlies had little reason to push for a return from Morant. They was speculation Memphis was open to moving on from Morant at the NBA’s trade deadline in February, but the Grizzlies didn’t make a deal.
Morant is set to turn 27 years old before his next NBA game and is moving increasingly far from his days as one of the league’s young stars.
