Huntsville Music Office kicks off 2026 with quarterly meetup at Tip Top Cafe

The Huntsville Music Office held its first quarterly meetup of 2026, highlighting upcoming events and new initiatives to grow the city’s music industry.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Huntsville Music Office hosted its first quarterly music meetup of 2026 Tuesday night at the recently reopened Tip Top Cafe, drawing a packed crowd eager to hear what the city has planned for its growing music scene.

Attendees got a preview of upcoming events, including 805 After Five and the Sunset Series at Ditto Landing, as well as new initiatives the Music Office is pursuing this year.

Pointing to how much the music scene has grown, Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella says the city is working with Sound Diplomacy, the same firm that conducted Huntsville’s original music study in 2018, to produce an updated assessment of the local music economy.

“We’re working on an update to show how our music economy and its economic output have grown since we launched the Music Office,” Mandrella said. “In the coming weeks, we’ll have a number to share on what the economic impact of our music scene actually looks like.”

The Music Office launched following the 2018 Sound Diplomacy study, which helped lay the groundwork for Huntsville’s investment in its live music infrastructure. Mandrella says the new data will give the city a clearer picture of that investment’s returns.

Mandrella says the meetups reflect Huntsville’s commitment to position the city as a regional destination for live music.
