Indianapolis Broadway Season to Include Lion King, Sound of Music, Hadestown


Broadway in Indianapolis has announced its musical subscription season for the 2026-27 season that mixes recent Broadway hits with some perennial audience favorites. 

Here are the shows that will be lighting up Indianapolis:

Disney’s The Lion King – The opulently-designed Tony-winning musical based on Disney’s beloved animated movie musical about a lion cub who grows up to challenge his evil uncle for control of the Pridelands. Murat Theatre at Old National Centre. Sept. 30 – Oct. 18, 2026

Mrs. Doubtfire – This popular musical comedy is based on the beloved 1993 Robin Williams film about a divorced man who disguises himself as a nanny so he can continue seeing his children—and learns how to be a better dad along the way. Clowes Memorial Hall. Nov. 17-22, 2026

The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age classic about a dashing millionaire whose money can buy anything—but the love of his life—comes to the stage in a glittering new musical adaptation. Murat Theatre at Old National Centre. Dec. 8-13, 2026

The Sound of MusicRevival of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical about a music-loving Austrian postulant who is sent to serve as governess for the seven children of an imperious captain. Clowes Memorial Hall. Jan. 12-17, 2027

A Beautiful Noise – Neil Diamond biomusical unfolds the untold true story of a Brooklyn kid who became a chart-busting, show-stopping, American icon with such hits as “Coming to America” and “Sweet Caroline.” Clowes Memorial Hall. Feb. 23-28, 2027

HadestownAnaïs Mitchell’s 2019 Tony Award-winning Best Musical based on the Orpheus and Eurydice legend, about a young man who loves his late sweetheart so much that he travels to the Underworld to bring her back to life. Clowes Memorial Hall. March 19-21, 2027

The Outsiders – Based on the best-selling novel, the 2024 Tony Award-winning Best Musical tells the story of a Tulsa, OK, teen caught between two local gangs. Murat Theatre at Old National Centre. April 13-18, 2027

The Book of Mormon – Two young Mormon missionaries find an unusual way to convert an entire African village in this long-running musical by the creators of TV’s “South Park.” Clowes Memorial Hall. May 11-16, 2027
