FOXBOROUGH, Mass (WJAR) — Grab your Popcorn and snacks, a new movie theatre is coming to Patriot Place!
Phoenix Theatres is set to replace the former Showcase Cinema De Lux just outside Gillette Stadium, featuring updated amenities and a whole new way of watching movies.
“You can’t stream an experience, and that’s what Phoenix Theatre’s is; it’s an experience,” Massachusetts Senator Paul Freeney said.

The theater will be a “completely reimagined movie viewing experience” that is designed to pull you off the couch.
“What you have to offer is something that audiences can’t get inside of their home, you need something that’s really going to be spectacular and you have to create an experience for people that is really comfortable and exciting and a place that you want to go out to,” Senior Vice President of Project Development for Phoenix Theatres Jordan G. Hohman said.
The theater will include heated reclining loveseats, with an “Immersive Audio Experience through Dolby Atmos” in every auditorium, which is the first of its kind in New England.
That’s not all; the movie actually starts on time with no ads in site.
“You think about all the advertisement you see on streaming services today, we have to be a whole click better than them in every way and removing the ads from the screen is just one way to do that,” Hohman said.
Movie theatres across the region like Seekonk and Lincoln are closing their doors, and that leaves holes that could end up full again.
“We’re here to fill in those gaps and patriot place just seemed like a natural place for us to go,” Founder and President of Phoenix Theatres Corporation Cory A. Jacobson said.
It’s those closures that are on the top of the companies’ minds, and because of that, they intend to make it something that can’t be refused.
“Some restaurants are going to close; some restaurants are going to open. we’re really in the same type of market, it’s about creating the experience by bringing Dolby Atmos, by bringing heated recliners and really creating an experience that people can really look forward to and enjoy in a little bit different way, and raising the bar,” Jacobson added.
Phoenix Theatres plans to open their flagship Patriot Place location sometime this spring.
