Maryland Day Festival, Musicals Without Music, more


From music to comedy to community festivals, there’s something for everyone this weekend in the Baltimore area.

And it all kicks off with the Orioles’ home opener Thursday!

Orioles Opening Day, Thursday, March 26, 3:05 p.m., Oriole Park and Camden Yards. Cheer on the Baltimore Orioles during their home opener against the Minnesota Twins.

Marylandia, Thursday, March 26, 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., Hamilton Branch Library. The Dan Meyer Choir presents “Marylandia,” a musical tribute to the Old Line State.

A Hero’s Journey: Schumann & Strauss, Thursday, March 26, 7:30 p.m., Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. San Francisco Opera Music Director Eun Sun Kim will conduct Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben (“A Hero’s Life”). Pianist Javier Perianes will perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto.

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass & Other Delights, Friday, March 27, 8 p.m., Lyric Baltimore. Enjoy your favorite TJB hits with Herb Alpert and his brand new Tijuana Brass.

Music Under the Dome: The Rolling Stones, Friday, March 27, 8 p.m. & 9 p.m., Maryland Science Center.  Enjoy an immersive planetarium experience featuring in-house curated imagery set to the sounds of Rolling Stones hits.

Easter EGGstravaganza at Mary’s Land Farm, Saturday, March 28, through Saturday, April 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mary’s LandFarm, Ellicott City, MD. Enjoy, an Easter Egg Hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, see the Petting Farm and have animal encounters, and even book your own private mini lamb cuddling or mini bunny cuddling session! Cylburn in Spring: A Community Fair, Saturday, March 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Cylburn Arboretum. Spring fun abounds in this community fair at Cylburn Arboretum, with hikes and tours, food trucks, a scavenger hunt, expert demonstrations, and more.

Cosmic Egg Day, Saturday, March 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., American Visionary Art Museum. Enjoy a day of yoga, artmaking and poetry to celebrate Andrew Logan’s Cosmic Galaxy Egg sculpture.

Maryland Day Festival, March 28, 11 a.m., Power Plant Live! Celebrate all things Maryland, including food, drinks, art, music, comedy, a Renaissance-themed market, and more.

Can I Kick It? Cleopatra Jones, Saturday, March 28, 7:30 p.m., The Theater at Creative Alliance. Watch Cleopatra Jones like you’ve never seen it before — while DJ 2-Tone Jones live scores the film, scene-by-scene, with a blend of genres including hip hop, soul, and funk.

Gary Owen, Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, Lyric Baltimore. Stand-up comedian Gary Owen is bringing the laughter during the Baltimore stop of his “No Hard Feelings Tour.”

Musicals Without Music, Sunday, March 29, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., La Familia Soundstage, 836 Guilford Ave. This one-day-only immersive theatre experience breaks the fourth wall and brings the action right to audience members. The play explores what happens between the spaces between a musical’s songs.

Maryland Greek Independence Day Parade, Sunday, March 29, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Baltimore. This celebration of the 205th anniversary of Greek independence will feature bands, musicians, dancers, floats, and more.

David Nihill, Sunday, March 29, 7 p.m., Creative Alliance. Irish comedian and author David Nihill is bringing his show to Baltimore on his “Taking Tangents Tour.”
