Jaylen Brown #7 of the Boston Celtics is ejected after arguing a call against the San Antonio Spurs in the second period at Frost Bank Center on March 10, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Boston Celtics will play the Atlanta Hawks in an Eastern Conference matchup on Friday night, and before the game, the team from Massachusetts announced its injury report for the contest.

Based on the latest injury report given by the Celtics, star Jaylen Brown has been ruled out of the game.

Brown is having the best season of his NBA career, and while he’s been mostly healthy in this season, leading the team previously without Jayson Tatum, the latest injury update could be a growing cause for concern.

The Celtics have officially ruled Brown out for the game against the Hawks.

According to the team, the Brown will miss the contest due to left Achilles tendinitis. While it is probably for precautionary measures, any Boston star named in the same sentence with ‘Achilles injury’ is not something fans want to see.

Brown was originally listed as questionable for the Friday night game with left calf tightness, but has since been downgraded to out.

He has missed time earlier in the season with knee, hamstring, and quad injuries, along with an illness, but the latest update on a potential Achilles injury does not bode well for the team’s playoff hopes.

But for now, the extent of Brown’s injury is still unknown.

In 65 games this season for the Celtics, Brown is averaging 28.6 points, seven rebounds, 5.2 assists, and one steal on 47.7% shooting. He was their biggest factor in having the second-best record in the East before Tatum returned from his Achilles injury.

Brown was the latest player to be ruled out for Boston’s game against Atlanta, but he isn’t alone on the team’s injury report.

Along with him, Nikola Vucevic, who is recovering from a finger injury, was also ruled out. The trade deadline acquisition hasn’t played since early March, but is expected to return to the court soon.

However, in what is good news for the Celtics, starting center Neemias Queta is now listed as available for the Friday night game despite having a thumb injury. He was previously questionable, and despite still being listed as day-to-day, he will suit up to man the middle for Boston.

Derrick White was also on the injury report, but he’s also been upgraded to available despite a right knee contusion.

Additionally, the Celtics will have Tatum against the Hawks. The franchise star has played in just nine games since coming back from his Achilles injury, but doesn’t have a designation on the injury report for Friday.

Overall, Tatum has exceeded expectations despite returning just ten months after suffering the previously career-altering Achilles injury in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

Questions remain on his fit next to Brown as it relates to another deep Celtics’ postseason run, but according to both stars, they don’t have any worries about playing together going forward.
