Grand Avenue, specifically the stretch around The Music Center and Gloria Molina Grand Park, has a rather charming way of frequently flowering with free family activities now and then, and fun performances, and perfect ways to spend a Saturday full of sunshine.

That’s sunshine of the from-the-sun variety, yes, but also a sunny spirit, something that naturally emanates when the Grand Avenue community stages a celebratory and free day created for kids to enjoy.

That’s happily happening again on April 18 when “The Music Center’s 47th Annual Very Special Arts Festival: Family Day” returns to the cultural destination with all sorts of sweet crafty activities, pop-up performances, and get-involved goings-on to savor.

“Parents, guardians, caregivers, kids and their friends are invited to this free, one-day outdoor festival where children and families of all abilities will enjoy an exciting lineup of live music and dance performances, interactive art-making activities and a magic show, all in a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere,” is the wonderful word from The Music Center.

Korean Classical Music and Dance, Drumatix, Straight Up Abilities, and Free 2 Be Me Dance are some of the troupes and artist organizations set to appear at the popular gathering.

And happening directly across the street? It’s “Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Easy Mornings,” another free family-fun favorite.

Yoga, the chance to have your face creatively painting, and story sessions are in the works.

And nearby on April 18? A third free gem to jump into: LAUSD Unified Arts Fest 2026.

Pay-nothing activities and more musical and dance-awesome goodness will beckon visitors; head to the Ramon C. Cortines High School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Grand Avenue arts organizations, you are the best: We’ll see you April 18 for free creative pursuits, uplifting moments, cool dance, and the chance to make art at a trio of terrific spots.
