Maine Science Teacher Prepares for NASA’s Summer Mission

BRUNSWICK (WGME) — Karin Paquin, a science teacher at St. John’s Catholic School in Brunswick, is about to prove that her teaching skills are truly out of this world.

While she usually spends her days helping students orbit around complex science problems, this June she’s officially launching her career to new heights at NASA’s LiftOff Summer Institute.

A former marine biologist, Karin is trading the deep sea for deep space.

She won’t just be spacing out in Texas; she’ll be collaborating with NASA engineers to bring stellar real-world applications back to her classroom.

She knows that to truly reach her students, she needs to give them some space to grow—and maybe a little rocket fuel for their imaginations.

St. John’s is over the moon for her, and while the selection process was highly competitive, Karin definitely had the right stuff.
