When the gloves come off: spring 2026 fashion trends

As the snow melts and the flowers bloom, wardrobes begin evolving too. Storing the fur coats deep in the back of the closet allows for hottest upcoming trends to take center stage.

Spring is traditionally all about the florals and pastels but this year, current trending styles have taken this iconic spring look and made it its own. Specific colors that have seen a resurgence are light purple, mint green, pale yellow, baby pink, and robin egg blue. Everything from headbands to nail polish has taken on this color and it won’t be going away anytime soon.

These colors have been adapted into the current trending patterns, meaning that we are seeing pastel polka dots and striped everything. More specifically, matching sweat sets, basic wear and maxi skirts are transforming to meet the color scheme.

Polka dots and stripes being at their peak in the fashion cycle is very reminiscent of the 2010s — where this spring is seeming to draw inspiration. However, these patterns are likely to begin seeing their way out later this year, as they fall out of the current cycle.

For tops, lacy blouses are popping up everywhere paired with low rise waistlines, which have been trending for the past few months. Slowly the trend is shifting away from tiny baby tees and embracing longer form fitted tops. This slightly more formal top allows the wearer to dress up a casual outfit.

For going out style, tops have remained relatively similar to past seasons with more lace detailing and halter necklines.

Matching sets have been the most popular item in the fashion world since last spring, with each season seeing a different version of the same concept. While sweat sets from brands like Aerie and Aritzia are still seen everywhere, the direct style is slowly changing into a more summery look. Matching baby tees and leggings have been seen this spring as the warmer weather begins shining though. For a more dressed look, two piece outfits like maxi skirts and tanks or tube tops are becoming popular.

These pastel colors don’t only apply to our tops; the shade of jean that has seen an increase in popularity this season is a light blue or even white. Though low rise has been dominating, they need to make room at the top for the comeback of the capri — another early 2010s iconic fashion trend making a return to mainstream.

Pairing capri pants with the shoes of the seasons, ballet flats, is the recipe for the perfect spring outfit. The return of this ballet flats was unexpected but has begun to dominate spring styles. Celebrities like Harry Styles have even been spotted sporting these on red carpets and during performances. As the weather becomes warmer, ballet flats will transition into a traditional flipflop, which seem to be having their moment again as well, very 2010s.

There is a slow decline in popularity of the bag charms that were dominating during the colder months, but other accessories have taken their place. Headbands of all different styles are beginning to make appearances as we get farther into the spring. Zigzag, athletic and traditional styles are being seen the most, with zigzag dominating. These are easily paired with a smaller compact purse and a skinny gold watch, making them the finishing touches of the perfect spring outfit.
