Zach Bryan brings country music to Death Valley with tailgates and sold tickets

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Zach Bryan performed at Death Valley Saturday night, and some fans treated it like an LSU football game.

The Migliacio family set up a tailgate before the 7 p.m. show. They arrived around 2 p.m., but they were one of only a handful of groups in the lot.

“Little disappointing — I thought there’d be a lot more people,” Nico Migliacio said.

Ticket prices varied

Nico Migliacio said tickets may have been overpriced when they first went on sale. His friend bought tickets half off the morning of the concert.

“I might kick him out the tailgate in a minute if he brags any more about it,” he said.

His daughter Madelyne received free floor tickets from a stranger in the parking lot.

“My friends and I went to go see the merch and the tiger, and on our way back, some random guy came up and was like, ‘Do y’all have floor tickets?’ And we were like, no, sir — and he was like, well, here, here’s 5 random tickets,” she said.

Fans traveled from Atlanta

The Roussel family drove in from Atlanta for the concert. Kendal Roussel said they had seen Bryan perform in Atlanta before but wanted better seats.

“His whole family is from here, and I thought it’d be the perfect Christmas present to see Zach Bryan in Death Valley, and we’re gonna catch the baseball game tomorrow too and make it a whole weekend,” Kendal Roussel said.

The Roussels said they did not regret buying tickets early, especially with Bryan’s new album, Revival, recently released.

“I think it’s gonna be electric. I’m so excited. I think the environment’s gonna be awesome, especially with his new album being out. It’s gonna be a good show,” Kendal Roussel said.

Bryan joins a short list of artists who have performed in Death Valley, alongside Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks.
